upward trend in gpa question

I did poor my freshman year and 1st half of my sophmore year. However, my grades really picked up junior year. At my school A 3.7 is an A- gpa. I have straight A's in honors/ap (physics, chem, english, spanish are honors us hist, comp sci, and calc are ap) and a 3.87 for the first semester and its getting higher. Freshman year was filled with easier courses yet I still ended up with a 3.3 gpa lol and sophmore year was similar with a 3.67.

Because of my poor early performance my cumulative and rank obviously drop but Im doing really well this year with far tougher courses. Even with PE and marketing I was only able to pull a mid 3 in fresh. year haha! Also, im taking 6 AP's next year and Im looking to repeat my junior year performance.

So after telling you all this, how do top colleges look at this kind of trend (top 50)? I know each one is not the same but in general?

btw my sat is a 2260 but plan on retaking for cr

CR 660
M 800
W 800

In general, the trend is a good thing, but most people say it’s better to do well all four years (I’m personally not sure about this).

A lot of people including myself had troubles Freshman and Sophomore years. May it be for what ever reason. On countless times ive heard that schools like upward trends and may even regard like freshman year if your gpa was getting progressively better. The only thing is you wont get into a top notch ivy league youll still go to a good school.

Yeah your right. Its true that schools also like consistency. But school does not always go so smooth sometimes, especially with difficult teachers or other issues interrupting you.

Since second semester sophmore year, I am in this zone and I have been getting nearly straight A’s. It sucks though that even if you proved that your capable, just one lousy freshman year can ruin your chances.

and I know my chance in the top ivy is zero but I would like to attend a top 30-40 school.
