UPWARD TREND vs. LOW GPA

Hi, I
m an international student(junior in h.s). i go to an international school. i transferred at the end of my sophmore year(like in april) from a school in japan(btw, not international school) because of the school system, i finished freshman year in march and when i came to the school i attend now, i was only a sophmore for 2 mnts… so i basically skipped a grade.
because of transferring to a new country/school, and skipping a grade, my sophmore grades were low. especially because i came at the end of the year and i had to catch up while skipping most of sophmroe year.
i had 1 C+ and a C-. this year, i have a 3.8 GPA with 5IB courses (4 HL). i know this is an
upward trend
, but my low sophmore year grades(i was here for 2mnts but the school said it
ll count as a whole yr grade!)will hinder my cumilitive GPA, even though i currently have a pretty good GPA… it
ll lower my chances of getting accepted to a college that does a GPA
cut off
(will not look at ppl lower than, for example, a 3.5 GPA).
ok… sorry this is long!
my school MIGHT be able to omitt my sophmore year grades because it was a bit unfair. and i
ll be able to get a high cumilitive GPA. but i
ve heard some schools like
upward trends
, and in my case, since i
m skipping a grade+came from a different school system.
i wanted to ask evryone if i shud just keep my sophmore yr grades to have a higher GPA, or should i keep them so they can see my upward trend even though i skipped a grade/came late at the year, etc?
thanks to evryone who replied! sorry this long.

bump..anyone?

I think you should keep all your grades and have your guidance counselor explain in his/her recommendation that you switched schools and only attended 10th grade for two months. If you omit some grades, admissions officers will wonder why, and are likely to assume that you did not do well. Most colleges do not have GPA cutoffs and evaluate candidates holistically, so don't worry about that.

Thanks! Any one else....?

Yes. Don't omit them but explain your rather unique situation. Might make for a good essay actually.

thanks! but what if i want to apply to a competitive school?like the ivies.. wud they still consider my unique circumstances? will they look over my low gpa? (for that year)

Do well above the competitive college mean on both the SAT I and IIs. You will have a better idea if you excel in this area. The dilemna you may face is that the ultra-competitive schools have so many qualified students to choose from. Perhaps you have a hook.
