Upward trend

I had a REALLY bad freshman year. I didn't do any EC's or Sports and got a 3.286 GPA, mainly due to a D grade in my Spanish 1 class. My sophomore year I joined the Debate and History teams, Cross Country, and Crew, and got a 4.0 GPA with 2 AP classes. I have maintained a 4.0 this year, and intend to next year as well. Both years have/will include 3 AP courses. I will also graduate with a full IB diploma. I have held leadership positions since my Sophomore Year

Will universities forgive my lackluster freshmen year, or will they see the upward trend as a good thing.

My dream colleges are the Military Academy(West Pointe), the Air Force Academy, University of Florida, University of Miami, Duke, and Stanford. Can I realistically make it to any of these colleges?

If I’m not mistaken, aren’t admissions to West Point and the Air Force Academy different than for other schools?

Anyway, you clearly improved a lot since freshman year. As I do not know your test scores, I cannot rightfully chance you. However, Duke and Stanford are some of the most competitive schools in the country. At those two, those low freshman year grades will hurt. However, at U of F and U of M, the low freshman year grades won’t look as bad, as those schools are less competitive. Assuming test scores within their ranges, U of F and U of M should be matches, with Stanford and Duke still being reaches.

West Point: Reach
Air Force Academy: Reach
UF: Aim for 1950+/28+
U Miami: Aim for 1950+/28+
Duke: Reach
Stanford: Reach

Im consistently scoring low 30s on my ACT and low/mid 1900s of my SAT. I have taken both several times and intened to keep on taking them.

I also didnt mention that I have been in Navy JROTC since my Freshmen year. I have held numerous leadership positions within the organization and will get an endorsement from my instructor.

Low 30’s is really good for the ACT. That should make U of F and U of M matches.
