Do colleges prefer gpa with upward trends more or doing well all four years? Say someone has 3.0 gpa freshmen year, then upward trend to 4.0 junior year, and another person has 4.0 all four years. Who would have better chances?

I would say the person that had a 4.0 for all four years. An upward trend can look nice, but when your upward trend cumulative gpa is a 3.5 and the other person has a 4.0, why would the lower gpa chances be greater?

I don’t want to sound mean, but I just believe that the kid who has the consistency of the 4.0 would be more liked by an admission officer than the one with the upward trend.

4.0 all four years is way better. Some colleges don’t look at freshman year grades, though.
(Also, underachieving on purpose so you can have an upward trend is an awful idea. I doubt anyone would do that, but just in case.)

I think you know the answer…
