I know upward trends are a big deal but idk if i would qualify.

all are weighted :(
my 8th grade grades which are on my transcript is a 93 and 80 :(
My freshman avg: 87.5
sophomore: 92.29
junior: 90.8
senior so far: 94.19

my overall gpa 8-11 (what it says on my transcript) is a 94.16

Do i qualifyfor the upward trend? any insight is needed! thank you.

Don’t get carried away with the idea of upward trends. An upward trend is better than a downward trend. An upward trend is better than starting with low grades and staying low. But that’s about it.

Some CC posters talk about an upward trend as if it’s some kind of Holy Grail. It isn’t. An upward trend is not, for example, as good as starting out with high grades, and continuing to earn high grades throughout high school.

Your grades are your grades. They vary a little, but not a lot–especially after freshman year. So my advice is, go and find matches and safeties based on your grades and your test scores, and stop thinking about trends of any kind.

i think my average is the worst part of my collegeresume
i am expecting a 31-33 ACT grade in decemeber
94.16 average weighted
sub-excellent ec’s.
business major
which colleges should i apply to? reach/match and safties? please, idk where to go .

It *is *difficult to know how to begin, because there are thousands of colleges and universities in the country. It’s hard for you because there are so many colleges to consider, but it’s also hard for anybody who’s not you because there’s so much about you that we don’t know.

Where do you live, and how far are you willing/able to travel to go to college?

What kind of setting do you prefer–urban, rural, suburban?

What size institution do you prefer?

What kind of campus atmosphere do you want? Big-time college sports? Liberal or conservative or kind of apolitical? Artsy or techy?

How much can you and your family afford to pay?

Just go to the usnews rankings and pick your colleges based on that like most of us do :P. On a serious note, you have a slight upward trend but it is not that big of a trend plus. Your junior grades went down compared to your sophomore.

Colleges do not care about your 8th grade scores. Your grades are fine. As a senior you should be in the thick of completing college apps right now. You will find a good place. Best of luck.

I’m sorry to tell you, but your gpa is extremely low for most of those schools, unless your rank is very high, showing your school is hard/competitive.
Assuming you make a 32,
Upenn - high reach
Stanford - high reach
Dartmouth - reach
Cornell -reach
CMU- reach
UVA-low reach
Umich-high match/low reach
Boston College-low reach
NYU-high match
Penn State-match
Boston U-match
Northeastern- low match/safety
Binghamton -low match/safety

No, you do not have an unward trend. A drop in junior year is always an issue. This happens to a lot of students because that’s the year things get tougher.

That said, your drop was modest and not a big deal. But you certainly can’t call this an upward trend. And as said above, an upward trend is not a big deal anyway at selective schools.

Yes, you have started several threads about the CA, you have your list of schools, and I have personally given you a check list of things you need to do for your applications.
