Hi
I am really interested in psy, environmental studies, and international relations.
I heard that UR was kinda known for psy, so no worries here.
But how's the environmental science(B.A)? Do they have a strong department for it?
And international relations is a new major here, how good is it?

I also wonder if Roc does a good job of preparing graduates for law schools.
And do they offer a lot of interns?

Please help me out if you know anything about any of these questions above!!

Rochester doesn’t “offer” a lot of internships; very few do. However, they are very good in helping students get internships. They have excellent listings, assist in resume and cover letter writing, interview etiquette and practice, etc.

Weizzie, pre-law at Rochester is quite good. In the junior year you can meet with our pre-law advisor in the Career Center who will help guide you through the process (taking your LSAT, preparing letters of recommendation on LSAC, etc.). We have both Mock Trial and Debate at UR. Debate is ranked in the top 10 nationally every year and is coached by a former speechwriter for George H.W. Bush, Curt Smith. There are also some great law internships in the city of Rochester through the District Attorney’s office. I had a few friends who did that internship.

It is for all of these reasons that we have great law school placement. We’re proud of the fact that last year we admitted a UR student to 22 of the top 25 law schools in the country.

International Relations was created as an extension of the Political Science and Economics departments, both of which are world-class and ranked in the top 10 to 15 in the country every year. We have internships at the European Union and British parliaments where you study with an M.P. One of my friends did the program and was told to write a report on constituent complaints in England. She credits that internship as one of the major reasons she gained admission to some top law schools.

Thanks!! Both helped a lot!
Any one knows about environmental studies(B.A.)?? They do not offer it as a minor, but is it probable for me to creat my own minor in this??

Weizzie, that type of creativity is encourages at UR. We have an Office of Interdepartmental Programs that deals with all curriculuar proposals.
