got my letter yesterday!
i live in ohio, sammy, so i'm midwest.

Those of you who have been accepted, did you guys submit the mid-year grades and are the decisions taken after their submittance. My son submitted his mid year reports only last week.

In this first wave has anyone had a rejection? And, could some of the accepted students post their stats?

We live in the midwest. Darling daughter got a 2000 on her SATI and a 32 on her ACT. She took 3 SAT II exams. She received 2 scores of 690 and one score of 740. She attends a "public elite" high school. Her mid year grades were sent about a month ago.

My stats:

2350 SAT, 35 ACT
800 math II, 750 Chem, 750 World History

I go to public school; sent my mid-year about a month ago.

Btw, I thought the personalized acceptance letters were a nice touch; I wasn't expecting that from Rochester! Good luck to all those still waiting!

so if we didn't get any letter ... does that mean we'll get rejection letters in the mail? i sent my mid year about two weeks ago

As far as I know, my mid-year reports were sent out a week ago, a week and a half tops. Maybe they didn't look at them unless you were on the brink of admission/rejection?

Also, I live in Massachusetts. The letter was dated February 20th, so it may not have arrived in some people's areas yet. My SATs were 2000/1310. I took three SATIIs, had a comfy amount of extracurriculars with some good leadership stats, and a 4.15 weighted GPA (APs/honors courses). I would say that my recommendations and essay were all pretty strong as well. I definitely emphasized that I was strongly considering U of R. I interviewed in the fall, and recieved their Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass Social Services Award last year. I really hope the financial aspect works out, because it's one of my top schools.

Did your letters come postal mail or another carrier? (i.e. FedEx or UPS)
Thanks for sharing!

intended major - physics

i got mine too!~ :]

If you submitted the FAFSA and CSS profile on time you will receive your financial aid package, including any scholarship, approximately seven to ten days after receiving your admit letter.

Congratulations to those who have been admitted! Please let me know if you have any questions.

We send out letters in waves throughout late February and the month of March

how come there weren't any rejection letters? does this mean they come later... uh oh!

I got my acceptance letter yesterday! i live in the southeast.

stats:
SAT: 2270/2400 (800cr;710m; 760w)
SAT2: world hist 760; lit710; math2 710
Rank: top 5%
AP's: world5; chem4; art hist5; physics b4; us hist5. Plus 4 more AP's this year.
EC's: generally solid, but nothing incredibly outstanding, relative to the average CC-er.
Recs: no idea. i am sure they were, at the very least, good.
Hook: Southeast and NMF, probably, and maybe my intention to double major in non-sciences (art history and philosophy). Anthony-Douglas award. They also said in my acceptance letter that they loved how I had done archaeological research and had connected w/ a UofR archaeology prof when I visited. I also have expressed lots of interest.

Gneral thoughts- I, too, am anxious about scholarship money. With this economy, my parents and I are really looking at the schools offering me the nice fin/merit aid packages.
I was so surprised to get an acceptance in Feb --definitely very unexpected! And I really, really loved how personalized my acceptance letter was! I was having the worlds worst day ever, and I can pretty much say that this was the worlds' best cure!

Has everyone gotten a personalized letter? B/c that would be really cool!
I have really loved UofR's definite personal touch throughout the whole college search. Yesterday, I got a personalized UofR acceptance letter...and an application confirmation from another school with the same application deadline. Says alot for UofR :)

How many of your letters were personalized? Mine doesn't seem to be personalized at all.

Not that it matters greatly, I was just curious to see if it meant anything to get a personalized message.

dweinerman - thank you for the information - I did submit the Fafsa and CSS on time so will eagerly await the fin aid package. U of R has been very easy to deal with, I was so surprised to get my decision this early considering two weeks ago I had to have my hs transcript faxed to them - looks like it was lost or never got into the envelope my hs sent - the admissions dept. was very helpful - very cheerful guy on the phone. Hope the $ is good because they are winning me over.
My acceptance letter refers to my "diverse interests" but I don't know if that was personal or generic.
Best to those still waiting - I've been there too!

Darling daughter's letter was personalized. I thought that was an extremely nice touch.

has anyone been rejected yet?

My letter also mentioned my "diverse interests," so unless they just pick from a list of pre-made comments to make specialized letters (which I doubt) I think it's just part of the general one.

Do you other guys have that in it?

I don't know if this is me overthinking the situation, but does getting a specialized message mean that you are a stronger candidate that stood out, and therefore you are more likely to get more money?

I know that comment is kind of out there, but I am very worried about money at this point and knowing where i will end up for school.

Mine directly referenced my past work experience, even though I barely mentioned it. They are somewhat personalized.

baseball: I got my acceptance a couple days ago and never sent in my midyear report. Am I expected to anyway...?

My letter was somewhat personalized with "diverse interests" but it also mentioned something specific to something I did.
