How's the program over at Berkeley?

Look into USC’s SPPD program. It is a more respected program.

What do you mean by more respected?

Typically, at any university, anything with “studies” at the end of a major is typically thought as a lesser degree, hence a lesser program. USC’s Policy, Planning, and Development major is a BS instead of a BA, which is often more respected. Their program is also taught by tenured professors that also teach the graduate programs. Additionally, the SPPD school currently has a Nobel Laureate on its faculty: [Nobel Laureate Appointed Presidential Professor - USC School of Policy, Planning, and Development](http://www.usc.edu/schools/sppd/newsletter/january_2011/nobel.html)

Ultimately, it is up to you where you decide to go. I enjoyed my time at SPPD, and we had many transfer students from Cal’s Urban Studies program that thought our program was more “serious” and respected.

How about doing some research and compare the course offerings and see which curriculum appeals to you most.
