Hey guys, since the common app is getting changed this time, have you guys started on the application yet? It looks like it is really going to be different.

And also, if a college that you are applying to does not accept the Common App, but has essay prompts very similar to the one on the Common App, can you just write one essay for both and submit it to both colleges? Obviously, I will tweak the essay a bit to make it fit more into what the common app/individual college wants, but the main theme and many paragraphs will be similar, if not the same.

I’ve started, but my essays are terrible. Ugh.

I’m sure you can just submit the same essay multiple times. For example, I plan to use the same essay on the common app as the uc app. Prompt #1 on the common app is quite similar to the PS for the UC app - so I don’t see the point of writing another one.

That’s the best case scenario really. To write an essay that can be recycled to fit the requirements of as many schools as possible.

Yes, you can recycle your essay if the prompt is similar. As for starting the common app all you should do at this point is work on the main essay since it is the only component that has been officially released.

I’ve written my Common App essay.
You can use the same essay for multiple prompts, as long as the prompts are for different schools.
