Hello! So it is the end of my junior year, and I want to take a class over the summer so that my application looks better, as well as study for the SATs and subject tests. I will be working 2-3 days a week; do you think it is possible to do all this and take both AP gov and Spanish 4? I'm very interested in the two classes, but did not fit into next year's schedules. Would doing all this be possible, or should I pick one of the two classes? If so, which looks better to take? This is pretty urgent, because I have two days to decide. Thank you so much for your advice, god bless!!

Don’t you need to visit some schools as well as start working on your essays and school applications in the Summer? How many AP did you have already? And how many more are you going to take in senior? You should have been done with SAT1 and subject tests already if you are planning to have a Summer schedule like this. It is good to have 4 years of foreign languages for some schools. My suggestion is to drop whatever that is not essential. May be the AP class or the summer job. I think having a good essay and well prepared application may be more important to have some summer classes.

Thanks. I have already taken ap world, ap enviro, ap psych, ap us (and the ap human geo test without the class). Next year I am taking ap Calc bc, ap Chem, and ap Lang. Does this seem like enough ap classes? My dream schools are JHU and university of Chicago. Compared to other students in my school I take one of the highest amounts of ap courses, but compared to other schools this seems like very little. I thought adding one more would boost my resume.

AP gov is easy. I would just self study honestly. You are talking about AP US Gov’t and Pol right? I mean it is really easy; I reviewed like 30 min total and got a 5.

Comparative Gov? Not so much

I forgot to add, both courses would be online. I’m sure I could self study gov and get at least a 4, but taking the actual course would boost my gpa and class rank, so that’s one of the reasons why I want to take it!

Is that summer job essential then? It seems you have enough AP already. The main purpose of AP in application is to show your course load. You just need to self report the scores which have very low weight in the review process.
