URGENT: Can I take math 1 and math 2 subject tests?

I'm applying to Georgetown, and they require 3 sat subject tests. If I take math 1 and math 2 will they count as two different tests, or just one? I'm also taking physics as my third test. Thanks.

I'm not sure if it is allowed, but I would avoid that at all costs.

yeah, normally they want you to take the subject tests in different areas. Math 1 and 2 are too similar. You could choose both physics and biology/chemistry, for example, as they are still pretty different topics within one area. Math 2 is just an extension of math 1; if you can do well on math 2, there's absolutely no reason to have math 1 also

i got into MSB with strong scores in math 1 and math 2 and weaker scores in american history and biology...if math and science is your thing and you have strong scores i wouldnt worry about it too much

you CAN take both but if you're serious about the school you should probably just choose one math (if you can do well on math 2, definitely take this one.. it's just an extension of the first one and is looked more highly upon than math 1) and try to choose a different subject for your 3rd one..

Gah, for the December tests I opted to do both Math I and Math II because I was applying to MIT too and wanted too; I had a decent science score and I wanted to boost my math instead, but I forgot about the Georgetown requirement. My last scores in October were pretty horrible: 620 for Bio (ugh! I must have had a chain shift somewhere ...), 760 for Physics and a 670 for math.

My 670 and 620 scores look quite pathetically mediocre (I've never been in the 5th decile before!) but since they are the lower bound for my app so far -- if my December tests don't redeem me, is my application doomed?

Well, anyone?

You should call the admissions office and ask them if you're really concerned. But from what I've heard Subject Tests aren't given that much weight.

620 for Bio, 760 for Physics, 670 for math looks an okay set of three SAT II scores. I don't think that will hurt your chance for admission if everthing else you have looks right for Georgetown. When we went to the talk on Georgetown, it sounded like scores on the Subject testes were not, as tehlikeli-ask says, given that much weight.
