What's the out of 1600 breakdown for the SATs?

It seems the sat score is pretty/very low.. other than that, there's nothing eye-popping so.. i wouldn't count on getting in but you never know!

ouch that sat if hurting

Did your friend take TOEFL? I saw that your friend scored a 780 on the Chinese, so I'm assuming that your friend is Chinese and scored high on Math section but low on other sections of SAT I...right?

How does that SAT break down?

EDIT: And to which college?

His breakdown is 560 Writing 630 CR and 690 Math

as Austin Powers would say, "Ouch baby, very ouch"

lol but seriously, those numbers are subpar for cornell, if even that. don't really see any area of concentration or "passion" in those EC's. I see you listed your immigration as an EC lol. you can try to emphasize the hardships, etc that you experienced, but i doubt it'll count for much. a lot of ppl are in the same boat(no pun intended :) ).

reach for the stars, but have a backup plan ready. i'd start looking into some more "match" schools

Heyyy, I was an immigrant at the age of 8. lol

Everything looks good (especially the rank!!), but the SAT score is a bit too low for Cornell....but like everybody said, you never know! If your friend have awesome essays and recs...then maybe it could boost him up.
