URGENT!! Columbia Class of 2016 ED Application!!

<p>Hello! I'm a high school senior who's applying ED for Columbia College. My stats:
Cumulative GPA: 3.78/4 ~ 98%
SAT Reasoning: 1st time - 800 CR, 790 M, 680 W; 2nd time - 740 CR, 800 M, 750 W
SAT Subjects: Math lv. 2 800, Physics 780, US History 740
Extra-curriculars: MUN, Cross-country, student council, Christian youth group, etc. (Probably didn't matter if I listed all of them)
I've taken 3 Honors courses and 8 AP courses throughout my 4 years in high school.
Oh and at the moment I'm a semi-finalist for the National Merit Scholarship.</p>

<p>Would someone help me review my supplement and give me a chance estimate? Thank you!</p>

<p>How’s a 3.78 a 98%? Do you mean 3.98? If you were getting 3.98 it sucks that your school doesnt just bump you to a 4</p>

<p>Well in our school 4.0 is 100%, and you can’t get any higher than that. 3.67 is A and 3.33 is A- and so forth.</p>

<p>Oh and I seem to have made a mistake. I think after recalculating, my percentage is actually around 95%.</p>

<p>Your test scores are strong and your GPA sounds bad (compared to kids who have like 4.8s and super high GPAs due to grade inflation) but honestly they only look at your GPA in comparison to the rest of your class. So if your GPA puts you in the top 5% or higher of your class then that shouldn’t hurt you. Your extracurriculars are good but not exceptional. Overall I would say you are sort of on the more ordinary side of an applicant to Columbia but honestly very few people are guarenteed to get in, for everyone else a lot of it is luck and what the admissions department is looking for in a particular year.</p>

<p>The highest GPA in my graduating class is a 4.04, and I don’t think our school gives all of the other GPAs out to the college during admissions. However, I believe (after asking around), that I am placed in the top 10 - 15% of my class of 50 seniors (yeah, we’re a really small school).</p>

<p>Oh and to add to my extra-curricular activities. I’m the Vice President of our school’s Model United Nations club, Treasurer for the Drama Club, and the Founder and Band Director for our school’s show-choir club.</p>

<p>Being an Asian male is not going to help you, but it could be interesting to read an essay from a young man studying in a small school outside the USA. Write a great essay and you should be fine.</p>
