I had my SAT scores on 10/29 for an Early Decision school (deadline 11/1), but Collegeboard tells me that they’ll be sent within 2 business days (I paid for rush delivery). This means it’ll be there on Monday latest–thats 11/2, one day after the deadline. Will it still be accepted?

Also,

I just submitted my CommonApp and Supplement today (10/31), so thats on time, but when i entered in my credit card info (to pay the app fee), it told me that the payment would be processed on 11/2–again, one day after the deadline. Will it still be accepted???

Sorry if this seems trivial–i might just be too worried.

i asked three teachers to do a rec for me in case one falls through. One did fall through and was absent today, which is the last day for me to get her rec because I’m doing early at certain places. So I sent in the two recs that I already had. But my question is, can I still use her rec for the other schools that I’m applying to, or do I HAVE to use the ones that I sent out today?

bump for those who are sweating rec deadlines and those who are preparing last-minute applications. The original FAQ is from last year, but most answers should be pretty much the same.

And although these responses are rather late… kenhivus, your payment should be considered “on time” and your SAT scores should be accepted, but next time don’t rush them, as many colleges prefer you don’t. And ch0iminy, you can choose which recs to send with each application.

So, I don’t know if anyone is going to check this or not, but I have a problem with the Common App. Through one way or another, (I don’t know how) some information (some classes and one test) didn’t make their way to the application. Should I pay the $60 to resubmit the whole application? Or should I send a packet including this information? I just ask because I didn’t see it in the thread (if I missed it oops :P).

Hey divinecomedy,
Don’t resubmit your whole application, even if commonapp.org allows you to (which I don’t think it would). That would cause confusion and waste 60 bucks. Just send a polite, matter-of-fact letter to the Admissions Office of each target college indicating the additional information. Include your Common App ID number, which you can find on any page of the print preview.

Letter or fax is better than email. College admissions folks get a lot of junk email… and with a letter or fax, they don’t have to take the extra measure to print it. Save them a little time where you can. :)

PS: This isn’t an “ask the mom” thread, but I do plan to check in from time to time over the next two weeks. And an occasional bump to this thread may help raise the signal:noise ratio in the Common App forum. ;)

yale requires the supplement and payment to be submitted before the commonapp. i’ve just submitted the supplement and the payment, but the payment won’t show up, there’s a red triangle. which means i can’t submit my commonapp! should i contact the commonapp people?

that’s not the only thing i’m freaking out about. i submitted one payment with incorrect credit card expiration date. will that payment be rejected? the deadline for it is tomorrow.

muffinmeister I have the exact same problem with Yale. i submitted my supplement and I paid but it says not submitted for my payment so I cant submit the common app. What are you gonna do? its due today!

The Sallie Mae website was crawling for me, and I hit refresh to try to get it to work. On my credit card website, it says that Princeton charged me twice. Any idea whom I should contact to try to get a refund?

Usually you contact the merchant/vendor who double charged you and if they don’t resolve the problem, call your credit card company.

We will be contacting Stanford for a refund. It’s our fault, but NetPay had us flustered and we thought a bank draft would go through right away when the credit card didn’t. We were so desperate for the red flag to green! As far as NetPay is concerned, we’ve paid Stanford with a credit card, bank draft, and “mail a check”.

It’s a flaw in their system to allow multiple payments to the same college.

Is it okay to submit the application before submitting the supplement? I’m still working on my supplement, but I want to at least submit the application before the site gets even slower that it already is.

Oh, so I only have to do that for schools that say they want it first? I thought I wasn’t allowed to submit anything else once I submitted my application. Thanks DKB987. =)
