Okay, I have already told my parents about the cost of the 8 colleges I am applying to plus the cost of sending SATs and ACTs. Well, my parents can't get the money, around 550 dollars, till Monday, and maybe even a bit later than that. Can I send applications off and just pay the application fee sometime next week? Please, I don't want to hear anybody scutinizing the fact that i should have done this ealier. Anyway, any help would be great. Only two schools require the money before I submit, but I don't know if I can send money to colleges AFTER the duedate using commonapp.

it seems as if your application isn’t fully sent until after you pay… =/
I’m sorry…I hope I’m wrong

Can you use a credit card? That’s easiest anyway.

Too bad you didn’t check about a fee waiver; sounds like you could be a candidate.

^ I can’t. My parents make too much. But anyway, it was a general misunderstanding between us, so I am not sure.

Any more opinions?

no debit or credit cards?
even if you overdraft and pay the fees, it probably wont show up for a few days (until you get enough money) then you’ll have to suck it up and pay the overdraft fees.

borrow from friends? take out a loan? one of those “fast cash” “instant loan” type places…

I think I have it covered. Using 3 different cards. But yeah, I hope this actually works.

With all due respect, you say your parents “make too much” to get the App fee waivers, but still cannot afford the ~$550 in App fees, at the same time? That’s the part that sounds odd to me.

And the Common App certainly takes credit cards when submitting App fees on-line.

You do know that the SAT and ACT test scores to be sent also require a small fee, around $9 per score per school …

Zambon, my parents made 100,000+ last year, but even with that, it is right after Christmas, after a family vacation, and they don’t get paid until Monday, Thursday, and Friday of next week. Just REALLY bad timing on my part, because while we are well off, springing an almost 600 dollar request due today is not something we can just so.

And I have already added in the SAT costs. While I am unprepared, don’t assume I am completely ignorant of college admissions. :)

rmadden - Good luck in your admissions process, sounds like u have a good head on your shoulders … after I submitted my last post, I felt your reply would be something along these lines. Happy New Year.

Make sure that your parents can afford for you to go to the colleges you’re considering. Paying $500 at the last minute is nothing compared to having to ante up $25 k a semester.

^ Hence why I am applying to so many schools. It is not a bragging contest, but rather, I need to see which school will give me the most money. But thanks for the advice!

Oh, and thanks Zambon!
