ARe your schools in the small group of “no Score Choice” schools? If not (most are not), then why not go ahead and take it. You might do better than you expect. If you totally bomb it, use Score Choice and only choose the other 2 and not the Lit to go to the colleges. That way you keep options open. My son only did two; hopefully that is OK. We had read that in the past (10+ yrs ago) many top schools wanted 3, but lately the top, very selective schools want 2. Other less selective colleges, even mld-range ones, don’t seem to ask for any.

Of HYPSM, only Y requires you to send all SAT II scores. Stanford requires all SAT and ACT but you can choose which IIs to send. HPM allow you to send whatever you want of any tests.

There is no college that requires three SAT IIs. There are two colleges which do not require but recommend IIs which recommend three, Georgetown and Johns Hopkins. Others that recommend but do not require IIs recommend two. Some (e.g., Vanderbilt) want language tests for placement even if they do not otherwise require IIs. Most of those that actually require two SAT IIs use the two highest scores for admission if you submit more than two. Harvard and Princeton are an exception in that they require two SAT IIs but will consider any other IIs sent but neither requires you to send all SAT II scores. In other words, you generally do not need three SAT IIs unless you are applying to Georgetown or Johns Hopkins, and for others if you have more than two, the highest two will be used for admission or the college does not require you to send all SAT II scores.
