So I'm applying to Loyola University in Chicago, and I just submitted my activities resume and my essay tonight. The problem is that I have two versions of my essay: One is 500 words and one is about 670 words. To my horror, I accidentally submitted the longer version and Loyola's word limit is 500 words. Online, it says that you are not allowed to resubmit your essay once you submit it once.

Is there anything I can do to try to remedy this situation? I'm thinking of emailing the admissions counselor for my area to explain it and asking to submit the correct essay, while apologizing profusely.

If I can't change my essay, will my chances of admission be negatively affected? I was hoping to get into their honors program, which one can apply for if selected during the admissions process.

Other than the essay problem, I have numerous activities showing my commitment and dedication to music, a great recommendation letter, a 35 on the ACT, and I'm in the top 2% of my class.

Somebody please help me with this, because I'm really freaking out right now. Thanks for reading.

Edit: I made another mistake with it... Online it said: "This is your chance to bring your application to life and share with us a little more about yourself and why you want to be a part of the Loyola community." My essay read more like a commonapp essay and didn't say anything about why I want to be a part of the Loyola community... Can someone let me know how this will affect me? I'm so worried right now.
