You have $55k a year from the college fund. If the school you want is another $10,000 then it costs at least $65k.
Your other choices are fine schools and will leave you debt free after graduation, and some money left over for grad school or a down payment on a house.
OP, in your previous posts you state you are a CA resident and have over 70 community college units from a CA community college? Is that correct?
Did you apply to any UC or CSU schools for transfer this year for the fall or summer? If so, which ones and have you heard back? I think transferring in over 70 units to a UC would save a considerable amount of money in not just tuition but room and board as well if apply your transfer units along with any AP exam credits.

I’ve taken about 24 community college classes, and I have received all A’s in those classes. My high school classes are the ones bringing my grade down. Also, thank you for the clarification about Oxy. :^)
That’s why I’m mainly applying to competitive schools, b/c I have a fallback of UCI, UCD, and best-case scenarios UCB or UCLA.”
Then your college savings could be used to apply to graduate or professional school rather than being exhausted for undergraduate coursework.
I see that you feel your GPA is hurting your chances for merit aid. However, your community college grades are high, while it is your high school grades that are hurting your gpa. Did you apply as a freshman or as a transfer student in your applications because that can greatly affect merit aid? Much merit aid is reserved for incoming freshman while there is not that much available for transfer students.
Some of your answers will enable us to help you more. As in the appropriate way to ask for more merit.
Anywho, I got my answers. I can’t change the name of this thread, but if anyone else wishes to comment, they can. I just won’t be responding. I was worried and trying to figure out what my plan of action should be. I realize now that I have a lot of options.
Thank you for your advice, everyone. Sorry that I seemed ungrateful. I just wanted to know what my options were.
What are the two schools you love but got no merit from? Maybe that will help us understand why you got merit at the two above and not them. Are you close to affording the two or no?
