Urgent, help! International student: which hotel?

Hi. I am going to be an international Cal student. I have to fly to Berkeley earlier than the move in date for my accommodation and so I need to stay at a hotel for two nights. I have found 4 hotels that looks decent and are close to the campus, but don't know which one to choose. The prices are all similar.

Hotel Durant
Berkeley city club hotel
Beau sky hotel
Bancroft hotel

Could any of you who know the area give me suggestions on which one I should choose. I am basically looking for convenience since I will have to walk into campus for the few I will be staying in a hotel. Thank you in advanced :)

The closest to campus is the Hotel Durant, which is next door to Unit 1. So close, in fact, I kindly refer to it as the "Parent's Dorm", or Unit 1, Durant Hall.

Having said that, I can assure you that all of your selections have been booked for months. You may get lucky with a cancellation, but it is doubtful.

Another option in general, a bit further away and more expensive, is the Doubletree at Berkeley Marina. They offer free transportation to Cal.

They are sold out for Aug 22-Aug 24, I am afraid.

Craigslist has some temporary housing offers that might work out. No idea if any have space for 22nd-24th but here is an example listing for $125 per nite in a cottage about 7-8 blocks walk from campus.

Cozy Private Cottage~Now Available~

Another example, $300 per week walking distance to campus

Bedroom in Shared Guest House in North Berkeley

Look at trip advisor.com. Durant is actually pretty expensive. Beau Sky may not honor your reservation.

Or book in Oakland and use the BART.

those are all pretty good hotels, I would call IMMEDIATELY, they get booked very quickly by wary parents. If those don't work, you can probably find a motel quasi-close. It isn't great, but fine for a day or two.
