Urgent Help Needed: SSN

Smith College, Beloit College, and Kalamazoo College are refusing to allow me to submit my application for the following confusing reason:

"This institution has chosen not to receive the following information from your Common App:

* Social Security Number*

 • This institution has opted to suppress the SSN from the PDF but may still retrieve your SSN via secure data export."

I went back to my Common App to remove my SS number, but I can't because I have already submitted it to other colleges and it is "frozen". So what am I supposed to do?

That notice is only to let you know that those colleges won’t receive your SSN if you’ve entered it. You do NOT need to remove SSN from your application. The notice is simply there to inform you. If you do a print preview for those colleges on the Signature page you’ll notice that your SSN is not on the PDF.

If you cannot submit, it is for a different reason. That message is just information, not an error.

If you check all the boxes on the Signature page for Smith, Beloit, and Kzoo, then click submit, what errors do you receive?

Hmmph. I tried again and the problem seems to have corrected itself. Thanks, MacGyver!

Yeah, you’re fine. It tells you that when a college isn’t looking at/considering a part of the app (when I applied to Sarah Lawrence, it gave me that notice about SAT/ACT scores, but the scores were still on the app for the other schools and each school successfully received the Common App).
