Urgent Help needed ??

My friend is a permanent alien of US , he has just got his green card , he has been a resident of India till then and will complete his XII grade in India . Following are the questions he wants help with -

Q1 - He hasnt given SAT exam till now ( as of 23 Nov 2008 ) and is planning to take the exam in May 2009 . He wants to know if it is possible for him to get admission in a university in california for FALL session of 2009 and if possible , suggest some names .

Q2 - Will he have to take TOEFL exam as he is currently permanent resident of USA ?

A1. Nope, he can only try for fall 2010
A2. No

Thanx tetris for your swift response .
Q4 - Won't he able to get admission in Spring session of 2010 ?
Q5- If he takes d SAT exam in Jan 2009 , then would it be possible for him to get admission in Fall 2009 ?

There are plenty of schools there's still time for him to apply to for Fall 2009 if he can move fast. Not great ones without the SAT but I believe the CSU (CA state schools) system does not require them. Deadlines are the end of Nov. I believe so some quick research will be needed. Try posting on the UC boards.

Q4 - I guess
Q5 - depending on Uni. Some allow january scores for fall admissions.

Q4 - Won't he able to get admission in Spring session of 2010 ?
Depends on the schools and their deadlines. For example, Princeton doesn't accept spring admits.

Q5- If he takes d SAT exam in Jan 2009 , then would it be possible for him to get admission in Fall 2009 ?
Yes, depends on the school, again. MIT accepts Jan scores, but UCBerkeley doesn't. However, the application deadline itself is in late Dec/early January, so watch out for that.

Also, keep track of testing requirements. Must SAT subject tests be taken?

Thanks hnmom5 , alone , fiona . Your help is appreciated .
