Urgent help on payment issue!

I already applied to NYU for regular decision via common app online.

I paid the application fee on 12/26/10, and it said on my common application that the payment for NYU had been complete.

However, I received an e-mail from common app, like 3 days ago, I'd say? saying that there was an error and my payment did not go through.

It said that I should send the check through physical mail, so I followed through just yesterday, which means I can't make it to the deadline Jan 1st.

So I e-mailed NYU yesterday, and they said:

We do need your supporting materials as close to January 1st as possible, but they do not need to be here on that date.

Which relieves me, but then again, there is another problem. Has common application even released my application to NYU yet? Without the payment being in? As far as I know, they don't let you submit the application until the payment goes through... which is bad, in my case. It's not like I can go back to common app and send another payment through. They won't let me do that.

If my application was done electronically, and my payment was by physical check through mail, would this still be fine...?

I am full of worries. Help me please!

Can’t help much, but most schools will say “downloaded” on the Common App website when they have accessed your application. Will the Common App site let you “submit” your application? Some schools won’t let you submit the app until after payment and/or supplement, but since it says “complete”, this shouldn’t be a problem. common App site my not even “know” about the payment problem.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I just checked on my common app and it does say downloaded next to my application. I guess that means I am fine as far as submitting my application for the Jan 1st deadline?

Sounds like it!

Thank you so much for the help! I have no clue why my payment failed at the last minute… this is odd. I clearly have money in the bank account.
