<p>Is the Dec. 31 deadline a postmark or a sent-in-by deadline (yeah, its a Sunday, I know). I want to totally scrap my 2nd essay and try again and I need to know if there is time, which is possible if its a postmark deadline. Please help! P.S. <p>December 31 is a postmark deadline, which still means that you actually have to postmark it on December 30 (because, as you said, the 31st is a Sunday). However, you definitely have enough time to write another essay.</p>
<p>If it makes you feel any better, I started my Stanford application the day it was due (December 15th) and wrote four essays that I was completely happy with. That's probably a HORRIBLE way to go about things, but I always write my best when I'm under a lot of pressure. </p>

<p>word of warning: servers might be crazy around that time, but I've heard of plenty of students who turned in apps last minute with no technical problems</p>
