<p>If you search the internet you can find out more. The school's web site is a good place to start. <p>I would also ask about the school in the college search and selection forum and even the other college majors one.</p>
<p>Although I live in Maryland, I don't really know the strength of the computer science department. Since you live in India and somehow have a desire to attend UMd, I assume something led you to the school.</p>
<p>Traditionally, it wasn't seen as that remarkable a school. But in recent years it has gotten more selective and some programs are reputed to be quite good. As I said, I can't tell you if computer science is one of them. I know there are folks in the college search forum who have books with the rankings of different departments, so with luck they can help you out.</p>
