Im currently a Boston University student who major in business and concentrating in finance. I've got transfer admission to USC Marshall School of Business and have to decide soon. My career goal is to get in investment banking industry and want to have my future career on the east coast. Even though both of these schools are not target schools, which one should i get so that i could have bigger chance? Should i accept USC's admission or should i just stay in BU? Where would be easier to achieve my goal? Does USC attract bulge bracket firm to recruit on campus? how many USC marshall grads land jobs in these firms every year?

no one got any comments, please, im desperate for some input

a lot of USC grads go Big 4 in accounting…

for your sake, if you want to end up in the east coast you should just stay at BU and network with all the alumni over there.

USC is great for Los Angeles and the West Coast. USC is known for it’s great alumni ties.
There are IBanking offices in Los Angeles and hedge fund offices in Los Angeles. They might not have the same prestige as the NY offices, but you can still work for companies like Morgan Stanley.

I would think that you could probably get into IB on the West Coast from USC. If you really want to be on the East Coast, you could ask around, and see how often people are able to move from the West Coast to the East coast within the same bank, anybody know? Or maybe the USC alumni on the West Coast have connections in NYC? Just throwin out some ideas.

If I were you I would try asking on WallStreetOasis.

thank you so much for the idea; but another thing is that there are many boutique ib in boston or NYU, if i stay at BU, might shoot for that; but is it easier to move from west to the east in a big bulge bracket; or is it easier to stay on the east and jump from boutique to bulge bracket after working a few years? thank you so much again

If you attend USC it’ll be easier to get into a West Coast office in a big bulge bracket. Once you are in the West Coast office you’ll probably have the ability to transfer to an east coast office. I’m guessing your aiming to be hired by a BB in NYC.

The Trojan family plays a huge role in Los Angeles. They have executives in every major business in SoCal. If you go to USC it’ll be easier for you to be hired by a BB in their Los Angeles/San Francisco office, but if you attend Boston University it’ll be easier to be hired be an east coast boutique ib.
