Urgent Help with Taking SAT Again?

Here's the thing. I've given the SAT twice before, and my results weren't good because I didn't really prepare for either of the attempts. Over the summer though, I prepared a lot - and I was soon getting 2150+ in practice tests.

I just had my third attempt and:

like a complete dumbass, I filled in the wrong stupid section on my answer sheet for one of my math sections. I realized my mistake midway and changed as many answers as I could to the right section before I could finish (4 were remaining after the time was up). I told the proctor about my problem once my section finished. She said I can't go back to that section. To make sure I wouldn't go back, she gave me A NEW answer sheet and I had to carry on with the rest of my test on that. I was really distraught and my focus went down. she filed an "irregularity report" and now my test will be hand-scored. I am calling up ETS tomorrow to try and request them to consider my answers from the wrong corresponding section of the answer sheet, after all, it was only one section and apparently ETS does this quite often (or at least more often than one would imagine)

Here's the problem: this was my third attempt. I shouldn't take the SAT again. But if ETS does mark the section where I answered my math questions instead, my math will be good. Also, I found the writing to be really good: I am expecting full 800 on that. Critical Reading, because of my entire problem, suffered. I had to focus but I couldn't.

I want to know if I can give the SAT ONCE more - if colleges will understand my problem should I explain it to them. Also, I can use Score Choice and they would never know I did 4 attempts, right? Or should I just CANCEL this current score? (I have three days left to cancel). My writing was so great that I could really use it in my superscore. but the other side is that I could definitely improve in a retake in CR and Math.

It's a terribly confusing situation, and I could really use some positive feedback and help.

Thanks.

Go ahead and register for the November test. Most, if not all, schools will accept Nov test results. Then try to straighten out the problem with the College Board. If they can’t straighten it out, go ahead and cancel your score.

thanks. I am so stressed about this.

so they wont mind a 4th attempt because of my situation?

Where in the world did you get the idea that taking the SAT a 4th time is the end of the world? It sounds like you had heard there was a rule that NO ONE can take it 4 times. That is not at all the case! i have heard of students in our HS who have taken it 5 times, and then they were accepted to excellent colleges. What they CARE about is your best score in each subject, whether you took it once or four times. And if you truly are worried that the college will think you are a grind, only caring about test scores, you can explain the problem w/ test #3 to them.

thanks for your help jennieling, appreciate it.

does College Board allow you to explain stuff regarding each of your particular scores when you send them? Or does this explanation have to happen in some other way?
