I need to get off the wait list of Bennington College. All other colleges have rejected me. This is the only chance. What should I email? Should I call?
Should I contact the director of admissions or the assistant director of admissions who is in charge of international students?
Last year, about 50% of those who accepted the wait list got in. That’s a very good number I think.

              Do you need financial aid?

Usually you send a letter of continued interest. You tell them why you and the college are a good fit, and you update them on any new accomplishments. If you do not need aid you can assure them you will attend if admitted. If you do need aid you can say it is your number one choice.

The only way an international student gets off the waitlist is if a rich relative offers to pay their tuition (or all fees), or if they win the lottery to the same effect. Essentially, if you’re an international who needs financial aid, “WL” is a nice way to say “we really liked you, you’re good enough to get in, but we don’t have the funds to pay for you to attend our college.”
You don’t have any other decision pending?
Then, like most international students who need financial aid, you need to take a gap year and re-apply.
