I am applying as a engineering major.

In my essay, I talk about why I want to do engineering at Penn
And I also talk about the other academic courses I am interested in studying at the College, and how I can relate them to my future career in engineering.

Is it bad to say that I am excited about taking courses in both engineering and liberal arts, if I am only applying to SEAS. I figured anyone could take liberal arts classes, but now I am unsure if I would have to apply as a dual degree major.

Please respond.

no penn has the "one university concept" where they encourage students to take courses in all different schools, regardless of which school is their own. sounds like a good essay to me...you're fine

writing about that probably actually helped you because it plays right into penn's obsession with interdisciplinary stuff.

our engineering programs attract students primarily because of their interdisciplinary strength (if you wanted to be a hardcore engineer and just take math/science/engineering classes, i don't think penn is worth it)
