Urgent: payment problem

Here's my problem:

My dad's friend let's us use his credit card for the SAT's and applications because my dad doesn't have one. I applied to Stanford 2 weeks ago but on the 18th the credit card was blocked, and it had something to do with me submitting the Stanford app. I don't know if the credit card company thinks I'm using the card without permission or what. So I have a bunch of applications due on Jan 1 with no way to pay for them.

I'm not sure if I can pay using a check beacuse I'm oustide the US and I don't think there's enough time for my dad to get his own credit card.

If the credit card doesn't get unblocked in time, will I be able to pay by check? Will the universities accept checks from international banks?

Not sure what schools you're applying to. But, most to my knowledge would be flexible about that. You should call as soon after the New Years to explain your situation and you should send in your app with the check by mail.

OK, I found out what really happpened. When my sister was trying to register for the SAT's she kept typing the credit card information incorrectly and trying to submit, that's why they blocked it.

The schools I'm applying to with a January 1 deadline are Cornell, Princeton, MIT, and Caltech. The rest are due later.

Can't I apply online and pay by check? I remember seeing that option on a bunch of the online applications. I don't think using the paper app is a good idea.

More importantly, do they accept checks from international banks?

The deadline is looming, I really need your help people.

Why don't you call your schools? I'm sure, if the deadline is three days away, they'd have someone working who could answer your question.

File your applications on line and your can send the fees in U.S. funds to the school. You probably will incur overnight deliver charges (one of the drawbacks of applying at the last minute).

Remember can always send any pre application paperwork and or the fees directly to the school before the application is due. Just make sure that you indicate your name and SS# on the check. The school would then open a file for you and accept the rest of your stuff as it comes in.

When D applied to college some schools were not set up to take fees on line so the first thing we mailed out were the fees (uses postal money orders so we would have an automatic receipt to track it).
I would also recommend inserting a self addressed post card, so the school can mail it back to your verifying receipt.
