Urgent!! Please help me decide!!

wow!! now I really feel I should hurry!!

Now considering between UIUC and CMU.

I'm an international student and probably gonna major in AE or ME.

Which school will be better for me?

Since I'm an out-of-state student, tuition really doesn't matter.

I rather do care about how strong or comprehensive the AE & ME program that school provides is.

Probably either one doesn't win hands down.

Both schools have quite strong engineering programs and this makes me hard to make a decision right away.

But I'm slightly on UIUC's side because I heard that CMU's engineering majors are a little bit overrated with the exception of computer engineering.
(when it comes to computer, CMU is reputably the top, isn't it?)

What do you think of the CMU's engineering programs in general?

With the exception of computer engineering, are they really behind the UIUC's engineering programs to a slight degree?

What about in case of AE or ME? Is one school any better than another?

CMU doesn't have a AE degree, though there may be some concentration within ME that you can try to obtain.

Other than that, I don't think you'd find a whole big difference between the academics at both schools. I'd say go to whichever school you feel you'd fit in better at (big vs. small, rural vs. moderately urban, very tech-oriented vs. more general, etc).

I had to choose between CMU and couple of other universities too. I didn't choose CMU because one I wanted to major in ME. CMU isn't great for mechE. UIUC is a great school. The only thing is that CMU is a private university so you get more attention and things like that. But frankly, I think CMU isn't worth the money. If you do well in UIUC, I think a great future will await you. But if you the kinda guy, who needs more attention and really don't go after your oppurtunities, CMU would be better.
