Has anyone else who applied ED for a dual-degree program (Huntsman, M&T, Vagelos, etc.) NOT received any interview?

I will receive an interview for Oxford, and apparently they ask a lot of specialized questions about my fields of interest (Engineering and Economics - guess where I'm applying :D). I know from the Penn interview thread that interviews are "random", but do I really stand an equal chance as a dual-degree applicant who has had the chance to talk with an interviewer and to demonstrate their mad skills?

I know CC isn't the Penn admissions office, but please weigh in. I am considering turning in an additional supplement to an admissions officer who I have been in contact with, listing carefully why Penn and M&T are my #1 choices to replace my interview.

From what I’ve heard, the CDD decisions have already been made. This is because of the fact that they have to consider a lot of rejected CDD kids for single-degree programs as well. So sending such a thing probably wouldn’t do much. :-/

I got an interview for M&T. But it’s too late at this point. ALL decisions have been made, with the coordinated dual degree program decisions probably made a few weeks ago as Keasbey referenced.

The interview actually doesn’t weigh in much at all in the admissions process. Also, as Keasbey Nights said, decisions have already been made. The additional supplement would probably only help you if you sent it after being deferred.

@Ortsac, what was your interview for M&T like? I know that it’s probably too late, but I’d like to know what sort of things you talked about. For oxford, we have to go to the university and get quizzed by two professors for an hour about engineering and economics situations. Was it anything like that for your interview?

@ICanDividebyZero, I guess that this thread has reached the consensus that decisions have been made. Would sending in anything not help at this point, even a small note saying that Penn is absolutely my first choice? I’m deferring to single-choice degree if I get rejected from M&T.

You have indicated that Penn is your first choice by applying ED, so a small note will not necessarily help your chances. Hope for deferral (pray for acceptance) and send in a lengthy letter after that.

I can also answer your question about the interview, as I am an M&T applicant who had one. It was extremely laid back; it was basically an informal conversation. The interviewer tried to get a feel for who I was and I tried to learn more about specific stuff at Penn that you can’t really get from a website. He did not quiz me. He attempted to gauge my interest in Penn and M&T, and what I want to do with the degrees.

My interview sounds similar to ICanDivideByZero’s. I wouldn’t necessarily say mine was laid back, but my interviewer was very curious as to how I arrived at applying to M&T, what I thought the program could provide for me, and how I would build my career after completing the program. I wouldn’t say I was quizzed either, but my interview popped in some questions about Penn to make sure I knew what I was actually talking about.

My son received the request for his M&T interview a few days before the November 1st cutoff for ED and had the interview the first weekend after the cutoff. Interviewer happened to be an M&T grad himself [but I’m not thinking that was anything too much more than coincidental]. Otherwise, sounds similar to the others in that it was laid back and conversational. It was about 90 minutes long.

Just from the nature of the programs, I think all of the interviews for coordinated dual degree program are conducted by graduates of said programs. Although my M&T interviewer said he does interviews for solely Wharton and solely SEAS as well, which makes sense.

i had an m&t interviewer contact me but i couldn’t meet up with him cause i wasn’t in china (that’s where my residence is listed as but i go to boarding school in the states)
so i just got a normal interviewer lol. but yeah they try to match you up :)
