No space! With great difficulty, I was able to cut it down to 1000 exactly. I don't see why they would care.

I finally submit the application! Since costs were prohibitive, I decided to only apply to UCB (not UCLA or UCD). I will, of course, apply elsewhere. Anyone know any good safety schools :-)?

zking786, you took somewhat of a risk by only applying to Berkeley, but hopefully things work out well.

i only applied to berkeley, too. my essays were NOT refined at all. hopefully they look more at stats?
Anyway, for those of you who didn't turn it in yet, DO IT NOW!

why must we turn it in now? will it be impossible to later?

when do you think the last time it will be possible to get through to turn it in will be?

just so you guys know, you have to go through a couple more pages and stuff (like how you're gonna pay for it and all this consent stuff)after you press the submit button. in other words, don't wait till 11:59.59 PM to submit your app. good luck to you all.

thanks Caljgoz, do you have any idea when the system is expected to crash again?

is there anybody here who hasnt submitted???? i am. and i have 6 hrs left.......rite???

i wish i could tell you but i honestly don't know. my guess is that the traffic will peak around 9-11:30 pm and then will clear up. what i do know is that last year my friend did this application and his personal statement from scratch two hours before it was due (talk about procrastination) and submitted it at 11:58, Nov. 30. I guess that means UC tries it's very hardest to keep the system running when the panicking begins.

As far as I know, the system did not go down last year, at least whenever I used it. just try to get it in as soon as you can so you get as many chances to submit it and then take a deep breath, relax. Decisions will come in March.

hope this helps. best of luck.

thanks so much Caljgonz, that did help. My stress level is still sky high, but that's my own procastinating fault and you did calm at least me down a bit.

no problem, glad to be of help =)

Well, I applied only to UCB, since my dad told me that I shouldn't apply to UCLA and could only apply to UCB and UCD. I don't really want to go to UCD, so I only applied to UCB.

I was told that since I' have a gpa of 3.84UW and 4.2W and moderate SAT scores, in state, pretty good extracurriculars (research, I've patented 13 inventions), and 3 JC courses, that it shouldn't be extremely difficult to get in. What do you think my chances are?

The only things is, I'm finishing HS (senior yr) in a local HS in Bangalore, India. Since I was born in CA and have lived there only until recently, I'm still considered a CA resident. As a result, this shouldn't disadvantage me, what do you think?

Also, where else should I apply?

if ur still a CA resident......it will benefit u.

I know, according to their website's technical definition, I'm still a CA resident since I am a UC citizen and haven't relinquished my CA residence for more than a year. Also, since I haven't moved to another state, etc.

Lastly, how important are extracurriculars in the admissions process? Is it primarily grade driven, or can my extracurriculars make a big difference?
