<p>I'll try to make this short and to the point:</p>
<p>About:</p>
<p>-I have an approved TAG for Chemical Engineering at UCD.
-I have a GPA of 3.87.
-I currently have a 14 unit course load, which is only 2 more than the minimum for full-time. I added this part because it seems that UCD is a stickler about part-time/full-time status for the TAG.
-I have fulfilled all of my entry-level UC Admission requirements (Math/English/Other Crap) and I have over 60 units
-IGETC will be completed in the Spring of 2013 semester.</p>
<p>Dilemma:</p>
<p>-I am currently bombing one of my courses, to the point where there is no mathematical possibility for me to pass this course.
-This class is an important major requirement.
-Today (11/20) is the last day to drop the class with a 'W'.
-If I were to drop it, my course load would fall below what would be considered full-time for UC Davis. (Current: 14 // After Drop: 9 // Full-Time: 12+)
-My GPA would remain unaffected, obviously.
-UC Davis is the only school I am applying to, so if I am denied, I will be in a really bad place.</p>
<p>Question:</p>
<p>If I were to drop this course (with a W on my transcript) and retake it in the Spring of 2013, can I ensure that my TAG will not be void? </p>
<p>Also!
If I were to go solely by this part of UC TAG response...

All courses in progress/planned, in addition to the required courses noted below, must be completed with grades of "C" or higher, unless otherwise specified, by the end of your spring 2013 term.

</p>
<p>If I drop the course and retake it in the Spring 2013 term, I should be in the clear, right? </p>
<p>Since there is no mathematically possible way of you passing it, it will be better for you to drop with a W than to fail it. You will need to contact a UCD rep to see if your TAG will be upheld. Since your GPA is really high, you should be fine anyway. This seems like a special case scenario that you really need to talk to a rep about to get a definite answer.</p>
<p>question: Many colleges offer short term or one day only (for .5 or 1 unit) classes. Could you take these to get yourself to full time? Or an online class?</p>
<p>Have you talked to your professor? Maybe there is a way to get your grade up to passing.</p>
<p>-I am actually going to try to meet with the rep today.
-There are no classes open this late into the semester save for the basic living skills classes that aren’t UC-Transferable. Plus, I would need 3 more units to be considered full-time.
-I have tried speaking with the professor and it was not successful.</p>
<p>With a 3.87 you should not worry. Assuming you have decent ECs, volunteering, and good essays (although I heard UCD doesn’t read them) you should be fine w/o TAG.</p>
