Hey Guys and thanks for whoever is reading this

I’m caught up in a decision of whether or not to apply to BU early. I dont have Sat II’s yet and thus have been told by many people including my college advisor to apply to the CGS program. My only concern being is that it seems that CGS is a less advanced program and possibly the kids aren’t as smart and well qualified; however i could be wrong. My other concern question is that is there a stigma between the CGS students and the rest of the colleges at BU because CGS is easier to get into. It does seem that CGS is a unique program that offers a lot and possibly i could get a lot out of it and it could set me up very well. Is it too much like highschool though? The only reason im asking is because i want to apply early somewhere and i really liked BU. Ill give you my grades and it would be really great if you could tell if with my scores i should be shooting for something highter than CGS or if you really think its a good place, especially since i may apply to CGS early.

I feel like i’m a smart student and i want to sorround myself in an intellegent hardworking atmosphere where i can gain expereince to succeed. Will i find this at CGS?

Yes, you can apply directly. CGS is an amazing program full of both extremely intelligent and not so much kids. It's much more difficult than I envisioned. As far as the stigma, I havent encountered anything yet. While I dont think the program is really like high school, a lot of people do. My biggest problem is that I hate science and I think the class is a total waste of time.

Sure, you start out with the generic slate of liberal arts courses while at CGS, but it isn't as easy as people make it seem. Also, you will quickly complete the CGS curriculum and move into the college of your choice at BU, where you will be treated no differently from anyone else. Don't think of it as having a stigma. Your degree will be just as solid as anyone elses. If CGS is your pathway to success at BU, then certainly take it if you can.

k so i have a 3.5uw/25act w/ very good recs, essay, etc. My stats are identical to those of the averages for the kids admitted to CGS. My question is would it be smart of me to apply straight to CGS or apply to the SMG (the business school) b/c wont i still be able to do CGS if they dont think i am a fit for that. I guess i am saying wont it not hurt to try for the school of my choice? Or... what

Can't hurt to at least try for the school of your choice I would assume. I am not entirely sure, but I believe everyone who isn't accepted to the school of their choice is still considered for CGS anyway. So you might as well. I would call admissions and ask about this.

i would apply directly to the school u want to.. in your case (SMG).. and if u still qualify to the standards of CGS u will be accepted into CGS then you can choose if you would still like to attend..

i know alot of kids in SMG with lower stats then you, so it wouldn't hurt giving it a shot

i applied to SMG and got deferred to CGS..its not that bad.. u start taking classes in SMG during 1st semester sophomore yr
(my stats were lower then yours..so you definitely will have no problem getting into CGS)
