Urgent Question! Need to Know ASAP

I'm in a weird predicament right now. I tried to weigh all my options, but this seems like the best. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's why I'm posting here for you guys to share your feedback.
I had a 3.75 freshman year. I transferred to a new school this year (as a sophomore), and ended up with a 2.9 GPA for first semester. There was a death in the family and the transition was rough. I feel like my chances have been shot down for the top Universities I want to attend, particularly The Marshall School of Business @ USC.
I thought of this idea.
After this year, get my GED. Go to CC and complete 25 units, Note: NOT 30 units. 30 units + would make me a transfer student which is subject to being a sophomore or junior once transferring to a university. I want to transfer or attend a university as a freshman.
Therefore, I'd be looked as a special case, that of a high school/college transferee student but STILL eligible to be an incoming freshman at my choice of university. BTW, I would still take the SAT/ACT.
I spoke to admissions at USC today about this, so the above is correct.

My reasons for attending USC let's say, as a freshman, is so I can still be with my peers and friends, except I'd be attending a different school as them for a year or so.

I'm not drawing excuses solely on the death of a family member and the tough transition, but those were factors. It was also due to my lack of motivation which were struck from a lot of reasons, but also because I have no interest in what I learn at school. No kidding, I know it's all the basis for things I learn in the future, but after this year, since I registered my courses already, it's all AP classes. It's safe to say I could be taking those AP-esque classes elsewhere.
For one, courses taught in HS are booooorinnng. I plan to take economics, intro to biz, classes like those in the future if I go on with my idea.

Anyone, feel free to give me your opinion. Criticism is wanted - this is my future and I need to be making the right decision.

Ok I just don’t see what anyone could add to this. Seems like a solid plan. Carry it through.

Admissions officer at SC said it may not be as competitive with other applicants because I would be getting my GED. But if I explained my case as to why I would do such a thing then that could tie it up.
But when I think of it. I can only take 25 units. So, I won’t have a senior year or what?
