Urgent Question on Essay -- UPENN -- Please Help!

So they ask for an optional essay, but limit it to "one page". I'm not exactly sure what that means. I have a 500 word essay in word I would love to use for it, but it's over 1 page double spaced in word. I cut that essay down to about 330 words and it's one page, if you write all as one paragraph. However, If I posted the original essay in their supplement, and hit print priview, the entire thing fits on one page there. I should have realized this sooner, but I can't call the admissions office and it's closed until Jan 1st, the deadline. What should I do? Anyone here apply to Penn this year?

You can leave it single-spaced...

Just break between paragraphs...500 words shouldn't be more than a page.

Well if I single space it in word, it's under one page. But with all my other colleges, I've used double spacing to determine my length. Like I said, they're not recieving it in word format, but in their supplement print out format, and that can probably fit like 2 double spaced word pages on it. Unless, that is, they post it into word or something.

500 words is just right, i asked

you asked the admissions staff at UPENN?

If so excellent, my essay is 494 and I wouldn't change a thing.

yeah, i asked about huntsman essay specifically, he said 500+/-, as long as it's less than one page 12 pt font. so don't worry, and it's not doublespaced

so for online essays, you're supposed to double space after each paragraph? I didnt know this and for one of my applications I left everything just like one huge essay, except when there was a new paragraph, I obviously hit enter and went to the new line (though I don't think I indented, are we supposed to?)

are you suppose to skip a line after each paragraph??? where u hear that?
i want to do that, but my english teachers have always told me not to skip a line after each paragraph, it's not professional. but i'm not sure if it applies to college essay.
I would just indent and not skip lines.

well isleboy said break between paragraphs...does he mean indent? or does he mean just hit enter like I did?
