Urgent question!!!

So I submitted my UC apps and CSU app and for 2011 household income I put down my mom's income which is about 24K for 4 people. I qualified for fee waivers, but I forgot to include the Social Security benefits me and my younger sister receive as a result of my dad's passing in June 2010. I already emailed UC about this and I'm waiting for an answer. Our SS benefits total is like 17K per year, but it will go down for 2012 since I will be turning 18 and wont be getting it anymore. Just to sum it up, I didn't include this in my app, but I didn't do it intentionally. It was really just a mistake! I was just wondering if anyone knew whether or not this counts as our gross income because I read online that it doesn't, but I'm still not sure because I saw it on Wikipedia. I'm screwed. Please help!

You’ve made a good faith effort to do what you’re supposed to, so I’m sure they won’t hold it against you.

What would happen when I fill out the FAFSA in January and they see that the income doesn’t match up? Should the SS benefits be included in my 2011 household income?

You’ve already told them about the confusion, and you have a month to learn what FAFSA wants, since it is pretty specific, as I recall. It may be clearer there. I wouldn’t worry. You haven’t heard back from UC yet.

Okay. Thanks. I will still have a chance to fix it right? Also, I tried looking up the criteria for fee waivers for applications and I came across the SAT fee waiver guidelines. For a household family of 4, the cut off is $41,348. My income falls just below that and I was wondering if UCs and CSUs use numbers close to that.
