i’m a junior, getting ready to take SAT II’s this june…
HOWEVER…
i am thinking about taking 3… but do i really need to?
'cause my dream skool is U PENN
and it requires 3 subjects…
but i already took the new SAT with the writing…
so what should i do??
i’m planning to take math IIC and physics in june…
and a third one some other time… if needed…
… AND…
for the third one, i have 3 choices…
us history
literature
spanish
but i don’t know how to prepare for any of these…
advice please??

Use PR + Rusen Meylani's practice tests for the Math IIC and PR for the physics. I don't know about the other three. If UPenn still says it requires three SAT II's, yes, you are going to have to suffer through a third test.

which courses are you taking right now?

this is rather obvious but if you're taking AP US history for example, take the us history.

and it really depends on which subject you're good at. Look at the grades you've earned in those subjects in the past years and choose the one you're most confident on

Check out the practice questions on the College Board's site for those tests.

thanks ya'll...

but do other colleges...

take, i.e. NYU, UC Berk, and such universities REQUIRE 3??

Check out their websites. It's really ghetto for the class of 2006; every college seems to have different policy regarding standardized testing. I'm playing it safe by taking the old SAT I, new SAT I, and four SAT II's.

UC's are 2, i am positive. I was under the impression Penn was still pending on 2 or 3, but maybe they posted.

I don't know about the others.

UC's definitely now require 2 only, but in different disciplines. If math, must be Math 2. A parent somewhere else posted that Penn had decided to go with two, but call them to be sure. Hopkins still requires 3.

As for which 3rd test -- take a couple of practice tests, and see which you do well in, and take that one.

btw: some students have posted that they don't rec three in one day due to fatigue.

In the past (pre NEW-SAT days), colleges that required three SAT II's meant that you had to take the Math SAT II (either IC or IIC), Writing SAT II, and another of your choice. Since they have basically moved the Writing SAT II into the SAT I, there may be a change in policy about requiring three SAT II's. I would contact UPenn (email/phone) and ask them about how many SAT II's they require. They may not have their application form ready yet, and the policy might be changing.

wow, thanks you guys...

ya'll answered my question with more than enough info

Take three. You don't want the number of SAT II's you have limiting your college choices.
