Urgent - Should I take Economics?

I'm a senior who plans to major in journalism, but I am also interested in business/administration/ general fields of business and econmics. I was planning to minor in the field, or maybe even major in it.

What I don't like, and have no interest for is political science. I am currently taking AP politics by force. The class bores me, I'm not interested in politics, and I don't feel like it is useful as much as Economics would be to me.

So I have the choice to take AP Economics. BUT, here is the issue...

If I take AP Economics, it throws off the schedule a bit, meaning I would also have to take a different math class. I do not want to do that because

The teacher is a new teacher. And while his credentials are excellent, and his specialty is SAT prep, well.. you never know.

I sat in his class today. He is not as lively and as clear as my current math teacher.

The surrounding students are made not of the honors/high ranking kids I am with...but the basketball team <__<. They MIGHT be a little too noisy at times (but not an issue for me, my current class is just as bad). However... I took a more advanced level of Math last year, so I am ahead of the class. So the speed at which the teacher does SAT prep and new things might be hindered by that.

The big one...

My guidance counselors do not want me to take this math class because while both SAT teachers are doing SAT prep, they think that I will score better if I remain in my current math class. And that in the past, students in that class have generally done better. This is a big factor becaues my SAT math SUCKS. Terribly. I can barely reach 500 (I'm an English type of guy).

So guys and girls, should I still take AP Economics? Or should I suck it up and stick with AP Politics. Does the benefits of taking Economics outweight the risks that also come with it, having to take that different math class?

Hope that all makes sense. Sorry if anything wasn't clear!

no such thing as AP politics

^ He probably meant either AP US Government & Politics, or AP Comparative Government & Politics. Both are legitimate AP’s.

You could try self-studying it. Not too difficult, and you’ll be learning a lot. At worst, it will make you a more financially aware citizen.

AP government and politics is what I meant, I apologize.

I would self study it but I just don’t have the time and might not be as focused without a teacher’s guidance.

Hmm, so any other thoughts? I have to decide by the morning.

you said it yourself that you do not like your politics class and that you want to take econ.
the answer is pretty clear to me…

^ I think this was kind of key:

You seem to have more negatives weighing on the math situation, so I would deal and just take the government and politics class.
