Urgent Teacher Rec. Question

I just decided to apply to UVA this past week, so I am trying to pull everything together asap!

For the teacher recommendations, which I would like submitted electronically, do they show up as "submitted" even though I have not yet completed my application? Also, if my teachers do not have time to submit it by the 2nd, are they allowed to submit it by Jan. 10th even AFTER I have already submitted the app?

THANKS...if ANYone knows the answer to my question, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Happy holidays~

I really need to know the answer to this before the application deadline..CAN ANYONE HELP?????

Dean J responded to this below statement on 12/12/07. Hope this helps, but it looks like your teachers have until 1/10/08 to get recs. in.

Statement:
P.S. The University of Virginia has a January 31 deadline for submitting SAT scores.

Dean J's blog for admissions to UVA is very helpful. You should check it out in addition to these CC threads. Best of luck.

thank u so much! you are great help... :D

Ah, shucks, thanks for saying so, I try to be helpful. Best of luck.

for teacher reccs, i wouldn't worry about them.
my friend applied on the day the application was due (no exaggeration). she had no teacher reccs, and on top of that, half-assed essays. she got in.

Is it okay to send in two teacher recs and an additional letter (from my independent study mentor)?

ceebee, i think that'd be kind of an overkill

I agree, ceebee, overkill. I think you run the risk of irritating the adcom when they have too much to read.

Well all my other colleges request 2 recs and an optional additional one... and I've already submitted everything... so now it's too late! Oh well. I really do like UVA but to be honest it is not my first choice.

Seriously, just to clarify, I love UVA. I'm from Virginia and have visited a couple times. I'd be really sad if I got rejected because I sent in an extra rec!! Should I call the admissions office and tell them to ignore one? I don't want to annoy anyone!

Gosh no!! You will be fine. Now if you sent in 44 LOR's, that's a big problem. You are good. Relax. It's true that adcoms don't want to read too much. 3 is just fine, but don't send any more.
But, on another note, UVA is NOT your first choice!!!????? OMG! What's wrong with you!!! ;)
