Hey guys well, unfortunatly I didn't get accepted to UF :( But I got into University of Central Florida, do you think if i went there for a semester, I could easily transfer into UF with a pretty good gpa?

Another thing, if i tranfer do u think it will still be easy to make friends etc?

I would like to know this as well.
Hey mreric, you are going to UCF in the fall right?
Did you get witlisted at UF?
what are your status?
I find myself in the same situation as you, so what are you planning on doing next, like are you going to retake the SAT?

I am aout of state as well, and I applied almost a minute before the deadline. Well that's an exaggeration, but I applied really late.
And I am also out-of-state, from queens, New York as well.
Now I wish I had applied to st. john's, at least it wiuld have been near.
ANyways, since I intend to transfer to U. Miami later, I guess it will be better for me to be in FL anyways.

--WHen are you going there for orientation, and why did you decide to actually go to florida?

No way!!! what a conincidence, kinda weird how it happened to turn out like this.

I applied to U Miami Early Decision and was waitlisted, maybe ill get in. Other than that Im going to UCF.

What high school you go to now?

I didn't pick my orientation date yet since I just sent in the enrollment deposit, When are u going? I decided to pick Fl, cuz of weather. UCF has a good business program if your interested in that field. Im kinda using this school as a first choice backup; I also got accepted to Emory but I don't like Atlanta so I chose this school instead.

I currently go to long island HS, but I went to bryant for some time as well.

I picked FLorida mainly because I wanted to travel to that region and because of the weather, I cannot stand temperatures lower than 50 degrees.

Other than that, I applied very late, so UF and FSU were about the only universities whose deadlines had not passed. Now I regret not applying to other universities that had rolling admission though. Nevertheless, I wil probably stay at FSU for about a year or two, to complete the undergrad and then transfer to U. of florida or UM. I will definetely not be staying at FSU for more than two years, but intend to go to other states if my transfer at these two doesn't work out. I might even come back to NY, who knows. I will just make sure I keep a very high GPA at FSU regardless of how much I have to study to get those A's.

Are you planning on staying there all four years?

No, I didn't apply to UCF at all, but they have good programs as well and it is better since you intend to transfer to UF later anyways right? That way, you would be in florida already and the transition would be easier. Anyways, that is what i have in mind for me.
---> perhaps we can compare later how our tranfer application went, in case you apply to UF.
- or , are you going to apply to another university?

When I went to UF to visit one day, one of the guides actually went through the same thing. He slacked off a little in high school, got rejected from UF, then went to UCF. Then in his sophomore/junior year (I don't remember which), he transferred with a pretty good GPA. He did seem like one of those people who you think to yourself "How on Earth did they ever get this far?" so I'm sure if you get a good GPA you will be fine.

Thank you very much for the story and support erhswimming
Do you think it is better to transfer after 1 year or to wait until i finish the undergrad.

It is always better to transfer as what florida schools call an "upper" level transfer. These means you have over 60 credits or an AA. I dont know if it is either one or the other or both. I am transferring to UF in the Fall, but I know a bunch of in-state students that were not accepted. UF, according to the Common Data Set accepts about 40% of transfers. So get the GPA up, chill a couple of years, and then become a Gator.
