URGENT! transportation question

does anyone know what the cheapest and easiest way to get from LAX to UCLA? my friend is coming on sat for orientation and she really wants to know. any help is appreciated. thank you!

Cheapest: Flyaway ($5 one way to Westwood Lot 32, every 30 minutes)
Most convenient: Taxi (door to door, my guess is $25), Supershuttle (door to door, $20)

If you want to save money and are willing to walk, try Flyaway. Otherwise, Supershuttle.

If she is traveling with light luggage tell her to take the flyaway. It may take 30 min to wait for it at the airport terminal but it’s only $5 ! The walk from parking lot 32 where it drops you off to campus is about 10-20 min. It is non-stop; make sure to have exact change.
It’s just a great deal.

[LAX FlyAway Bus](LAX Official Site | Traffic and Ground Transportation - FlyAway Bus)

thanks so much!

Also, the flyaway drops you off directly across the street from a UCLA Shuttle bus stop. During the summer, they don’t run as often, but it would still be faster (and easier) than walking the whole way. Take the bus up to Westwood and Young Drive South and then walk over to Young Drive West and head up to the dorms.

I wouldn’t say Flyaway is the cheapest. The Big Blue Bus #3 or the Culver City Bus #6 takes you directly to UCLA (around 1 to 1.5 hrs though, up to 2 hrs in traffic) for 75 cents. You need to ride Airport shuttle C from LAX to the bus place (for free - around 15-25 minutes), and then ride the bus there to UCLA’s Ackerman Terminal.

Flyaway is definitely faster, but more expensive - for $5.

Then Supershuttles or taxis are the fastest, but the most expensive.

Good find Fasttrack. Has anyone taken the bus back to UCLA before though?

My roomate for orientation took the bus. It took him 2 hours to get to the campus from LAX. It took him 3 hours to get to lax for the return flight due to traffic. He said it isn’t recommended if you have a lot of things to carry. But it is cheap

on average, about how long does it take to get from UCLA to LAX?

I would rather spend the extra $4.25 and get there much quicker with the FlyAway.

last time i used a taxi to go from westwood to LAX i paid ~$40. Supershuttle was $16 from my door to my terminal. I recommend supershuttle. i haven’t tried the flyaway because of convinience. i would rather pay $10 than go through the hassle of walking to the bus stop with all my crap.
