So, I'm a senior and I've applied to all of my colleges already. I wanted to improve my sat subject scores and I've been planning to take the MATH 2 and the literature tests tomorrow. My colleges said it would be okay. Tomorrow is my last chance.
I've been focusing all of my energy on studying for the math ii. I got a 35 on the ACT reading section, and I've always been pretty good at english, and I didn't think the lit subject test was very different from critical reading satish stuff. But, then I came on here to discover that this subject test is VERY challenging and different from the ACT/SAT. I have taken NO practice tests, and I have no material to practice. Should I chance it and take the lit test, risking yet another bad satii score, or just take the math ii? I would really like to have 2-3 strong scores, though.. My current highest is a mere 710 on the sat us history...

It's 11:20 PM and my test is tomorrow morning. I need to go to bed shortly, but I will check this really early tomorrow morning..WHAT SHOULD I DO?

I hardly did any prep and I got a 750. (770 CR on SAT). It wasn't TONS harder than the SAT I, just different.

You can do well on it if:

You read a variety of books, including classics (written in 1800s especially)

You are familiar with literary terms such as personification, hyperbole, alliteration, etc.

I'd say the first one is more important- you're set if you read a lot. That was the secret to my success.

If you aren't familiar with a lot of literature, I would just take the 710.

I'm not exactly sure HOW you would prep for it- like I said, if you read a lot of books from different time periods, you'll probably do very well. If you don't like reading or only read modern stuff, then you wouldn't do as well.

You can't learn comprehension...

Maybe if you just quickly look over the literary terms that I talked about...? My prep book (that I didn't use other than to look at the list, bad purchase) had a big list but there were hardly any on the test and they were all the easy ones (like the ones I listed)...

take it if confident. If you have studied world history (even a bit), take that. I signed up for Math I and decided on world history in the last min. I got 710 and the curve is really great. Like 7-10 wrong for 800.
