URGENT! Which secondary school report do I use for transferring?

There's one called the "Secondary School Final Report Only" and also one called "School Report Only." The "School Report Only" one is listed underneath the freshman application on the Common App. The "Secondary School Final Report Only" is listed underneath the transfer application documents and is a much shorter form. However, on my Common App account, the "Secondary School Report Only" is listed as one of the forms I need to fill out. I'm so confused... and the forms are due tomorrow. Which form did you guys send in? (the shorter or the longer one?)

As a transfer, you need to give the School Report form to your former HS counselor. It is the longer of the two forms; it includes a ratings section, and it also gives your counselor the option to attach a letter of recommendation.

Note: Some colleges (Vanderbilt and UNC-CH, for instance) do not require the School Report - of course, this doesn’t mean you can’t send it anyway; it’s just not required. So, before you start to panic, check the website of the school you’re applying to and make sure they even require it.

Yeah, pencilinablender got it. Actually, in my experience, very few schools require the school report (the high school one) from transfer students. So far, I’ve contacted:

Cornell
UNC-CH
USC
Carnegie Mellon

None of them require the secondary school form.

You should send the SSFinal report because your HS information is final, whereas the other SSR is for current srs.

Entomom is right. SSFinal report is for transfer students, and SSR is for current seniors. I just checked my own common app, i dont see any SSR in my package…did you mess up?

And just to clarify my last post, I didn’t mean that the “School Forms” aren’t required. I just meant that the “Secondary School Report” isn’t required, FROM MANY Schools. Not ALL. So your best bet? Contact each school you’re applying to, or just check their website.

I simply did this, for example, for UNCCH. Go to Google and search:

“UNCCH Transfer Common App School Forms”

You should find a page that will talk about which are, and which aren’t required. If not, contact the school.
