URGENT: will wellesley look at an art supp?

thanks! it's just urgent cause i dont know if i should send it tomorrow or not

I don't know specifically, but I would guess yes. They're pretty good at looking at whatever you send them.

I'd send it in if I was you.

I know they do for Music. Marion Dry, head of the music performance department (and most amazing singer ever) responds to some.

I recall there being an arts supplement (portfolio) option when I applied in '02. So I went to the Wellesley prospective students page and found these, very clearly labelled:
<a href="http://www.wellesley.edu/admission/application/pdf/artguidelines.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.wellesley.edu/admission/application/pdf/artguidelines.pdf</a>
<a href="http://www.wellesley.edu/admission/application/pdf/CommonAppArts.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.wellesley.edu/admission/application/pdf/CommonAppArts.pdf</a></p>

They seem to be what you need.

I just spoke with them about this yesterday; they said that if you are an EE candidate they cannot guarantee it will be reviewed.

oh alright, so if you're applying regular, then they def will look? and also, should i attach the art supp form from common app (which before today i had no idea existed.. or else i would have used it for other schools)?

I asked about that and they gave no promises :/.

if i dont submit the art supplement with the common app sheet attached (as i just found out about it today and obviously have run out of time to send a rec and the 10 minute cd or dvd) do you think they wont even bother with it?

Yes yes YES they do look it. I was an EE applicant and submitted a recording of my playing piano and I got the greatest/sweetest e-mail from Marion Dry. So for music they definitely review it and Marion does such a great job responding to all applicants (if you get a favorable early evaluation). In fact, I believe that my art supplement was a huge factor in getting me into the school.

Ummmm well for art you send in slides/photos of your work and for music you send in a CD/cassette tape of you playing one or two contrasting pieces. You don't need to prove that you did anything, though the honor code still applies to applicants.

im submitting slides. but do i HAVE to use the common app art supp?

and do you think for the art rec, it would be bad to send a rec a teacher wrote for scholarship but it explains my art abilities etc and it's REALLY good?

You have to send in the whole supplement. Also, I asked in great detail the other day about their review process as of now, and while they are still reviewing applications, they will not necessarily get to all the supplements submitted now. I'm going to send mine and hope for the best.

Sending a rec letter from someone who knows your artistic abilities is a very good idea, I'd go for it.

I agree, even if you don't submit the portfolio, your abilities will have been addressed by a third party.
