Hi CC’ers!
I’m a freshman who is likely to withdraw before first semester is over (personal/health reasons). I want to apply to other schools though, and know most would consider me a freshman. If I do, I would have to fill out a freshman application. Would I then have to contact my high school teachers again to have them send those recs for me? The whole process would be the same as if I were in high school? It feels so removed, as it’s been a while since my first application.
For schools that would consider me a transfer would I need college professor recs, even though I never stayed to complete any credits? I’d send my transcript, even if it shows nothing but a withdraw on it?
I know it’s possible to switch schools, it’s just an awkward place to be, as both a matriculated student, but also not actually being a college student. I talked to an advising center person, and he said it’d be best to just finish the semester, and I acknowledge that, but I don’t think it’d be in the best interest of my personal health, so I’d just like to clarify the process if I do withdraw, as it seems a little mystifying right now. And I know every school’s different, but I’m just wondering in general if anyone, or anyone who’s been in the same situation can advise me. Schools have helped tell me whether I’m a transfer or freshman when I spoke on the phone, but I can’t contact every school in my current situation (or mental state, please understand) to ask these questions right now, as it causes me great panic to think about.
So anyone with any knowledge on the subject, please, reach out and quell some anxieties for me! Thank you so much.
