the word count for the essay Im doing for "additional information" is 775. What should I do? Is it ok to keep it like that or must I cut it down?

Try to cut it down, but there is no word limit to the optional essay. So, if those 775 words are critical, don't worry about it and keep it.

thanks. Could I send my essay to you so that u can give some suggestions if ur free?

are many of you doing the "additional information" section? i don't really have anything else to say, and it doesn't seem like an essay is what they're looking for there.... maybe i'm wrong...

IMHO, if you have any other thoughts, or any aspect of your life or personality is not covered by the rest of your application, you should make the effort to send the "What Else". It's one of those things that would be more noticeable if you didn't than if you did...... especially if most of the other applicants send it in. You don't want to seem lazy. But if you truly have nothing to say, then I guess you shouldn't force it.

I read in Barron's SAT I prepbook, that when colleges ask for extra info, reply with an enthusiastic "Yes!"

how come I don't see any "additional info" section? is it in the supplement? cos i'm using princeton's application.

It's the "What Else would you like us to know" form. It should be both in the supplement for the Common Application, and in Princeton's own application.

If you are able to cut from 775 to about 500-600 words, and keep the meaning, you will find that you have a better-written paper. That is the best way to write these essays: Start with about 1000 words, cut half.

I think cutting down something that already has quality is harder than adding sometimes.

You definitely don't HAVE to do an additional info section. If you are just doing it because you don't want to seem lazy, and it doesn't really add anything to your application, then you shouldn't do it.

Do you think it is okay if one of my essays for princeton's short answer is longer than 250 words?...I mean it is more like 400 words. Also I am using the common app as well and my short answer response about the activity is pushing 500 words. I don't mean to ignore the word limits, but I am not planning on sending Princeton's "What Else" because with longer essays here, I feel I represented myself well enough. What do you think?

I personally attached a poem I wrote for the "What Else Would You Like Us To Know?" Form. I thought my writing represented me well, so that's what I did. I didn't have to write anything new.

Try to cut it down, but dont worry if your slightly over

I wrote an additional essay about a quirky activity for the what else... form, but for other schools when they say "additional information" I didn't send anything. Something in me interprets "optional essay" and "additional information" differently. Meh

huh? how come I still don't see the "What else would you like us to know" section??? What page is it on the Princeton app?? I thougth you just need to send in three essays...

HELP!!! Seriously freaked out now.
