Urgently need help - SIR to both a UC and a private school?

Hi everyone,

I already submitted my SIR to Berkeley and now I am waiting on my SLR to be approved to see if I am able to get in-state tuition or not. The problem is that the June 1st transfer SIR deadline is coming up, but my SLR for tuition might not be approved until after that...I have a great fin aid package at a private school on the east coast and if my SLR is not approved at Berkeley, it might be better for me to go there since I can't afford out-of-state tuition at Berkeley.

Does anyone know if there is a penalty to SIR at both UC Berkeley and a non-UC private school?

Thanks!!!

The penalty is the deposit. You will lose however much money the deposit is. For UC, thats $100

So other than that, there’s no penalty? If the only penalty is the $100 deposit if I end up withdrawing my SIR at Berkeley, then that’s a huge relief!

Yea the UC system and private schools are seperate. Only UCs share info with eachother

My SLR was approved immediately, or at least it appeared to be. I suppose there could be an additional review process, but it should tell you right after you submit it.

In reality the Universities don’t have much of recourse against flakiness. Especially when they are not directly affiliated. Don’t know the effect on the private university, but the worst case scenario at Cal is that you will forfeit the $100 deposit.
