I just got my third term report card back, and found out I failed 2 classes (theory of knowledge and biology). In my final grades I passed both classes, since I did well enough in the first two terms to balance out the third term, but in I failed third term. I can still graduate as 1. I passed them and 2. I have more than enough credits. Would NYU rescind me? Do they care about each semester grade, or just the overall grades? What would be the best time to send in your transcript? I was thinking that if you send in your transcript when they're busy or after you paid the tuition, they might check over your transcript less thoroughly and just let it go? Or am I definitely doomed?
Help is much appreciated!

they care that you graduated. you survived IB!

relax! did your GPA drop significantly? (less than say, 2.50?)

i think you’re fine.

I don’t know my GPA, I’m in a Canadian school and we don’t calculate GPA. I feel that all my IB exams went pretty well, so I don’t know if that helps. There are so many threads of people freaking out over a C, and stories of people getting rescinded because they failed a class. I’m just really scared right now.

we can’t tell you for sure. on monday, call the admissions office anonymously and ask it as a hypothetical question. don’t give your name. people get rescinded when they fail a class they needed to graduate. people freak out over Cs because, well, this is CC and people freak out over everything.

personally, i’m of the thought that all NYU cares about is that you graduated from HS.

Thanks for the help! I guess at this point all I can do is hope for the best. I really hope I don’t get rescinded. I don’t know what I’d do if that happens :(.
Any other opinions?

I would agree that F’s probably are a problem in NYU’s eyes, but ultimately, it’s up to NYU. You’re better off asking them and not strangers on the Internet.

Should I just send in my transcript and not say anything, or would asking first or sending a letter help? Do you get some sort of confirmation if they deemed it ok? If they decide to rescind, do they give you a chance to explain or make it up in some way? Is there a deadline for sending in transcripts?
Sorry for so many questions, I’ve just been really nervous and losing sleep since I got back my report card.

Bump.
Anyone?

Have you asked NYU yet?

it’s painfully obvious that WE DON’T KNOW. just suck it up and call NYU anonymously.
