URI Merit Aid

So I would post this in the University of Rhode Island forum, but I need an quick response. I am not a Rhode Island resident, but I was wondering what my chances are for sizable merit aid. I have good stats for the school: 2250 SAT (R-770,M-750,W-730), 11APs, class rank: 2/390, I've done science research at Fordham University, varsity wrestling. Anyway, do I have any chance for a full ride or sizable scholarship even though I'm oos? Btw I'm asking here because I didn't see any details on URI's website. If I'm missing anything let me know. Thanks in advance.

What is your UW gpa and major? Writing does not factor in so you are looking at 1570.

Um I think I have a 1520 2 part. But anyway my school only does GPA out of 100 and I have a 96.4 unweighted and a 105 weighted

The average non-need award is $6,354. http://www.uri.edu/ir/pdf/cds13-14.pdf</a> (section H2a) That doesn’t mean you wouldn’t get more but it means they don’t have a lot to give out. You can contact the admissions office and ask.

My question is why, with your credentials, you would want to attend a less than stellar state school for which you are out-of-state? If there isn’t a special program at URI that appeals to you, you can probably get merit at a better school.

URI has a really strong engineering program and a 5 year master’s program (I’d probably be able to get it in 4 years because of APs). What better schools do you think I’d be able to get better merit aid from?

What state are you in?

Public colleges are usually not in the business of giving funds to out of state students. I don’t know how much URI does though.

I’m from NY but I’m looking for schools other than my in state schools (I’m already applying to them)

@eharr 1520 my bad lol. But not even NMSF with perfect SATs will receive a full ride. Your major factors in but this is not a school to parlay great stats to $$$.

You are eligible for full tuition at University of Alabama. You can also apply for the honors college. For engineering, you will also get an extra 2,500 a year. They have some interesting internships locally too, including with Mercedes Benz. There are a lot of strong out of state students taking advantage of this offer. You can see other auto scholarships if you look at the pinned threads at the top of this forum, including Louisiana Tech.

US news ranks UA at 88 compared to URI at 181 for what it’s worth.

Apply ASAP Dec 1 is the priority deadline for that offer. Application is short, it seems, no essay.
